It’s still all snowy outside, so another snowbound day!
Nails: Today went well.
Cooking: I made two egg sammiches today, one for me and one for Rosie. She was impressed with the GF english muffins. She said that had I not told her, she wouldn’t have been able to tell. I’ve been pretty impressed with everything Kinnikinnick makes.

We got a lot of snow. I love staying in when it’s blizzarding outside!
Nails: I had a hangnail that I bit off, but other than that I was good today!
Cooking: I had an egg sammich today, which means frying an egg. English muffin (GF) goes in the toaster, then sandwich it all together with a slice of cheese. Yummy! I also made some tea for Rosie and me since it’s snowing.

I went grocery shopping today on a quest for Andrew&Everett cheese which has been my favorite brand since I started eating cheese again. I finally found some at Sprouts, but they didn’t have my string cheese!
But I did get some cheddar slices, so it was burger night!
Nails: It went pretty well today. I wiped out pretty bad by the mailbox yesterday and my hands are still pretty sore from falling on them, so I didn’t have much interest in chewing on my nails. Hey, whatever works!
Cooking: Rosie made herself a cheeseburger and brought it over, and I microwaved a Sunshine Burger and a GF bun for myself, and then baked some fries for the both of us. Burger night!

It was a close vote and we ended up with a tie for first place. For the next 21 days, I will focus on not biting my nails and having at least one home-cooked meal every day, meaning I need to use the stove or oven.
Nails: I almost slipped up once at work today, because I tend to bite my nails more when working, but I made it through today OK. One day down!
Cooking: OK, I kind of half-assed this one today, I’ll admit. I had edamame, which just involved boiling water and tossing the edamame in. But I had to turn the stove on at least!

This was definitely more a week of “cleaning out” more than “cleaning up” or straight up “cleaning.” Mostly in the bathroom. I filled a garbage bag with stuff to get rid of, and I think there’s still more that needs to go. The guest room closet is really coming along well. I need to decide what books I want to keep and pack those up and sell the rest, then it will really be nice. I need to find a good home for the shelves in there. Anyone need some plastic shelving? They’re pretty decent as far as plastic shelving goes. This upcoming week I’d like to focus more on the “cleaning” side of things. Scrub the bathtub and take a bath, for example.

Week 1 went fairly well. Unfortunately I am not yet at the “maintenance” stage. So far I have gone through a lot of stuff to clean it out, and I got rid of a lot of stuff, which always feels awesome. The closet in the guest room is starting to empty out, finally. I only did two loads of dishes, which is kind of silly, but it’s better than nothing.
My bathroom is currently a disaster area. I’m trying to clean out things I won’t use. It’s much harder than it seems like it should be! I may need to have someone come over and help me go through each item and say “Yes I use this” or “No I will never use this” to get this figured out! My goal for this week is to get the bathroom done, then clean it top to bottom, and clean the kitchen top to bottom. Wish me luck!
OK, back to the routine. I’ve been slacking so much, and I’m running out of excuses!
I am putting in my 60 day notice on my apartment this week, so I will be moving out by the end of June.
This means I have this week to get the place show-worthy, and then I’ll have to maintain it for 2 months! That’s the worst part about moving out of an apartment.
The goal needs some concrete definitions. By the end, all I should need to do is a little daily maintenance (make sure there are no dirty dishes in the sink or laundry in the hallway, for example), but to begin with I’ll need to do some serious cleaning every day. I’ll do at least 30 minutes a day until it’s as clean as I’d like it to be.
I start tonight! I SWEAR this time.

Let’s mark another 2 in success (bringing the total to 3) and 1 in failure for this round.
Nails: I’m counting this one as a failure. I’m going to focus on something else next round and then try this one again. I’ll conquer it yet!
Flossing: Success! I flossed before going out for new year’s just to make sure I got it in.
Sleep: Success! Granted I was out late last night and this morning was just a token wake-up-at-6:30 before I went back to sleep, but come on… it’s new year’s day. I figure if there’s one day I’m allowed to sleep a lot, it’s today. Also, I feel like I’ve really formed the habit of getting up somewhere in the neighborhood of 7:00AM every day, which is what really matters.

Nails: Not going well.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Stayed up way too late Tuesday night, too. The friend from out of town and another friend came over and we watched British comedy (and it was actually good!) and then I made the mistake of suggesting a game of Chrononauts. It’s a super fun game, but often isn’t quick. It was likely 12:30 by the time I was in bed. I came home from work and crashed on the couch for a 3-ish-hour nap before going out for new years. That seemed to have revived me fairly well, at least.

Nails: Not going well.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Monday night a friend came to town and we went out to dinner and then joined another friend for drinks. Every step of the way I was saying, “No, no, I should go home and sleep. But… nah!” It was fun to get out and hang out with them! I made it home around 1:00 or so. Oof, up at 7 and a long day to follow.

Nails: I’m really starting to fail here.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Up a little past 7, not too bad.

Nails: Working on the computer and gnawing on my nails. Not a good day.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Went out again Saturday night and was up way too late and woke up at a little after 9:00AM, so not stellar.

Nails: I didn’t bite my nails while driving from Bismarck to Fargo! I usually do, so that’s a good day for me.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Up at 5:30AM. I went to bed at about 3:30AM. Then hit the road to drive back to Fargo at 6:30AM. That coulda been a loooong drive, but my sister-in-law was riding back with me, and it always helps to have someone to chat with on the drive. I did nap when I got home. For quite a few hours.
Biking: Srecha, how I’ve missed you! And Terrible Table ™, too!

Nails: Yeah, this isn’t going so well anymore. One glove has officially fallen completely apart. I need new ones!
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Up at 7, off to work! No naps. I was pretty busy all day.
Biking: Last day of Bismarck!

Merry Christmas!
Nails: My nails are doing OK. I didn’t do a lot other than lay around, which helps.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Woke up a 7:00AM and lasted about an hour… But I blame this on the fact that I was watching a movie. I always fall asleep when I watch movies.
Biking: No bike while in Bismarck.

Happy Christmas Eve!
Nails: Didn’t really have time to even bite my nails today!
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: This was a painful one again. I was up at 7:00AM after being up until 2:00AM with Rosie the night before. I did take a short nap in the afternoon.
Biking: No bike while in Bismarck.

Nails: The glove that began unraveling at the seam is now completely destroyed. I will try to brave Target this weekend to get a new pair or two. Otherwise the nails are doing OK.
Flossing: Evening flossing! Rosie spent the night and before going to bed I told her, “I have to floss, or else I fail!”
Sleep: Woke up at 7:00AM and went to work. This was so hard it hurt. I was up very late Monday night because Rosie is in town and she came over to chat and stayed until somewhere around midnight.
Biking: No bike while in Bismarck.

Nails: Another successful day of no nail biting! I had a hangnail, and I went looking for a nail file. I am proud of myself.
Flossing: Got more floss! Evening flossing again. This is getting to be a habit, I know it.
Sleep: Woke up at 7:00AM sharp again. It’s easier on work days, for sure.
Biking: I am in Bismarck, and I did not have room to bring either my regular bike (Reva) or my stationary bike (Srecha) with me, so I will be taking a week or so off. I figure as long as I don’t take 21 days off to break the habit, I should be OK. I will be using my mom’s treadmill in the meantime.

Nails: I drove to Bismarck, which is usually a nail-biting-out-of-boredom trip, but I made it the whole way without any nail-biting! Yay!
Flossing: Evening flossing. I used up the last bit of floss in the guest bathroom at my parents’ place, so I’ll have to get some more.
Sleep: This was a rough one. I was up way too late Saturday night working on my Linux computer. I woke up at 7:00AM sharp, though! No naps all day, either. Woo!
Biking: Stationary.

Nails: Today was a big day of FAIL. I re-installed Linux today, and there was a lot of nailbiting as I worked on that. I have been very good at wearing my gloved at work, but not so much at home. I tend to chew my nails when programming or something along those lines, so usually this is OK, but when I reinstalled Linux I needed them. Oops.
Flossing: I actually flossed both morning and night. In the morning I just felt like it, and then in the evening I did it for the sake of the habit. Also, there’s a breakthrough here that I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned yet or not: I have stopped bleeding when flossing! Yay!
Sleep: I woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 7:00AM! I did take an early-afternoon nap, but I think I earned it since I spent all morning cleaning and taking out a bunch of garbage.
Biking: Stationary.

Nails: I seem to be getting the hang of this while at work. The seam as come undone on one entire finger of one glove, so it looks a little silly. This has, however, solved my problem with the iPod.
Flossing: Evening flossing!
Sleep: Woke around 7:15 or so. Not too bad.
